Is this your sentiment as you approach the end of the year? With the hustle and bustle of gift buying, family gatherings and expectations falling short you may be asking yourself how do I begin to make sense of this.
I know as I move in the direction of year end 2015 I want to take time to recognize my accomplishments, acknowledge my shortfalls and then set a positive course for 2016. If you are considering the same type of process let me take a moment to suggest a way for you to find the ground to move forward from.
I encourage my psychic coaching clients to take time first to recognize and acknowledge the positive growth that is taking place in their life every day. We do live in a culture that teaches us to focus on what is wrong in order to change it. The World Health Organization suggests that depression could become the largest global health burden by 2030. Concurrently a Time Magazine study reports that Buddhist monks in meditation achieve happiness as “a physical state of the brain” routinely.
Somewhere between these two axioms is your ground.
As students of metaphysics we know that every day we reinforce mental patters and our thoughts repeat themselves. Thoughts become ingrained and we move through our day habitually thinking then doing the same ole thing the same ole way. We also know that with attention we can channel the flow of the thoughts to support our needs, wants and desires.
This year you can decide to look at what thought patterns prevailed in 2015 and decide how you want your life to look in 2016.
Quantum physics has helped us to understand that we only need to look at where we want to go to get there. Looking at what is wrong just energizes what is wrong and keeps us moving in the “wrong” direction. As Dr Wayne Dyer taught us “when you change the way you look at things – the things you look at change”.
Understanding that whatever we focus on we’ll cultivate – ask yourself “ what are my intentions for 2016 and how will I support them”?
“Accept your conditions for happiness without compromise and you’ll notice that the seeds of them lie within you, waiting to be cultivated through conscious, positive thought.” Author unknown
Current research supports these benefits of gratitude:
- Stronger immune systems and lower blood pressure;
- Higher levels of positive emotions;
- More joy, optimism, and happiness;
- Acting with more generosity and compassion;
- Feeling less lonely and isolated
In 2016 I shall intentionally create the circumstances for my attitude of gratitude to flourish.
I wish the same for each of you.
